Magic is real, you guys. And I drew a Homestuck.
I kind of liked drawing this one. I’d like to go back and draw the other characters, but there are so many. It’d be quite an undertaking. But I miss the Beta Kids. Hope they show up again soon.
(Oh, who am I kidding, magic is fake as hell)
@radiomaru is having another fanart-y contest. This time I actually got to draw my entry instead of just coloring it. Went with a magical girl-y outfit for Ramona in this one.
More from that project thing I mentioned earlier.
I do love the look of colored lineart. I wish it didn’t take so long to do.
Happy 20th, Sailor Moon!
I needed some coloring practice anyway, so I thought I’d enter Bryan Lee O’Malley’s AltRamona contest.
Sob Story: I only budget myself $20 a pay period for comics and I already bought the books in black and white, so I find it hard to justify buying them again even though the previews I’ve seen for the color books look really sweet!
…wait, that’s not a sympathetic sob story. Let me try again:
I am a simple penguin who taught himself to read and then how to draw, and even though I love comics, I cannot buy any because while I make decent money as a waiter, I do not have any pockets and therefore can’t carry a wallet.
EDIT: Note for people not familiar with the contest—I didn’t do the original linework in this one. It’s part of a Tumblr coloring contest by the author. Linework is Bryan Lee O’Malley’s, colors are mine.
I’m really not used to the whole “digital painting” thing. I actually inked it first, but decided to go for a painterly style instead of ink-and-cel-shading.
I actually like the effect, but it took forever.
I’m starting to try inking with a brush again. I’m having to relearn everything all over again, but I like the effect anyway. And it seems faster than before, weirdly enough, despite all the dipping and such.
I’ve drawn worse in two hours.
I was low on time today so I sort of made this one super quick and pretty sloppily. And I really have no idea what he’s doing or why. Possibly it is an angry GOMU GOMU-HI-FIVE.
“But Ezekiel—why, when you’re already short on time and don’t like it when your hand cramps would you decide to actually draw every scale on a big-assed dragon?”
“Well Ezekiel, that would be because I am stupid. And it’s possible because I hate myself. Those are the only two explanations that make sense.”
